Who Am I?

Describing me and my work

A little bit about me, I Studied Art at school but I went down a more professional route (I think to keep my parents happy) as a qualified accountant for 9 years. I was always painting and being experimental during this period and I decided to give up my career to pursue my passion for Art in 2018 when I set up my Instagram page, and I haven’t looked back since.

So a little bit about my abstract art and my inspiration.

I work with natural materials on my paintings. Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated by the natural environment and the beauty that lies around us.

The intention and inspiration of my paintings is to explore the relationship between elements, the skies, the oceans, the natural environment such as the formation of rocks, cliffs, and weathered material. In my work, I aim to bring together certain properties of each of these natural elements to create an experience and understanding of the world and the contrasting relationships between each of these ideas.

I hand source the natural materials used in my work from different areas, depending on the subject matter or the intention. I find this the best way to form the connection between my work and the surroundings.

I form texture in my abstract paintings using material which has been subjected to the forces of the weather, and I love to use ‘untouched’ and ‘natural’ material in my work to form the basis of all my paintings. The contrast between elements such as the roughness of the texture, the smoothness of the ink or paint. and the reflection of the metallics brings about a composition and structure that is unique.

In my works I have aimed to bring together certain properties of the natural environment and materials. The marks and the movement in the paintings have been made purposefully to evoke emotions of nature and the rhythm of the outside forces. I have worked with materials to ‘crack’ the surface of the paintings to add elements of physicality and the deterioration of surfaces which is current in the natural environment and particularly on surfaces closer to the coast.

Over the last 4 years I have worked on a number or large scale abstract art commissions and installations for home and interiors all around the world. I have sold paintings to several celebrities and to clients in over 30 countries and I am extremely happy to be doing what I love.
